Watercolour Paintings By John Bradburn.

Marine & Seascape

John Bradburn

I started painting from a very early age, and continued right through school. When I left school I joined the Royal Navy and my painting took second place. I painted in Oils and Acrylic, but am now drawn to Watercolours.

The difficulty in watercolours for me in the early days was finding someone to teach me. There were hardly any books in those days, so I ended up teaching myself over a period of time. It was well worth it though and I am now getting to where I want to be.

If you like my paintings then please add to my guest book.

Thanks for visiting.

Hi, my name is Ian Bradburn, John's son. Whilst I have always appreciated aesthetics in every day life I for some reason have found little time for art work in general. Viewing someone else's perspective has never held any interest for me, it's not a concious thing, just something I have realised whilst writing this. The first time I have ever been stopped by a painting was when I first saw 'the calm before the storm' which led me to think more about artwork and paintings in particular. The picture was hanging on Dad's wall and I must have stared at it open mouthed for some time. I think it is the lighting effects that make the pictures stand out, this is the common thread through all his work that render the subject of the painting less important than the mood that is evoked. Dad still won't part with that painting, but it will be mine...

Anyway my eyes have been opened now and I still walk into Dad's house and gawp as the walls slowly fill up with paintings that look like windows to another place. Each one makes me feel as if i'm there in the picture, and I hope you enjoy those same emotions.

Cheers

Ian.
